Journey towards self-sufficiency in veggies!

I rent a half-plot in south Leicester, really an urban environment, but we do have the occasional farmer willing to dump a load of manure by the allotment entrance gates; that's about all the rural idyll we get. My dream would be to grow most of what we need and desire, veggie-wise and fruit-wise, for our family of four. Of course, we can't grow bananas and coconuts, but as much as it's humanly possible, given the space (about 80 feet by 40). This blog will be a record of that journey. I'm a southern Indian married to an Englishman with two children who do not like to experiment! I hope to design meals to suit my Indian palate, to suit my husband's gastro and my children's bland tastes. Recipes beyond the squash soup and boiled cabbage! What I have is half an allotment with running water during summer months, a 10x8 polytunnel, a shed that's falling apart, a biggish pond I dug last year to aid wildlife, and thousands of slugs. Almost on top of the weeds
